Daily options for lice prevention.
Here is a great writeup by one of our amazing Klahanie School parents, Jordan Beck-Vroom for Lice Treatment:
For all the basic information, like life cycle, reproduction times, household care http://www.cdc.gov/parasites/lice/head/index.html
For non toxic effective cetaphil treatment http://nuvoforheadlice.com/test/
Metal nit combs can be found at the pharmacy, as can cetaphil. Even though Cooper was the only one with lice found on him in our family, the whole crew got the cetaphil treatment(which I would not have done with the chemicals) and Thomas and I also did the Lysterine treatment(google it if you're interested, I wouldn't do it on the kids, but it seems good for extra thick or long hair). We also spoke with a family who recommended a vinegar rinse before removing nits, instructions here http://headlicecenter.com/head-lice-vinegar/ .
I would think it couldn't hurt for everyone over 2.5 years old to do the cetaphil treatment if any signs of lice were found, even if nits/lice were not. It only has to be done once a week for 3 weeks.
I hope this helps, and know that lice can happen to anyone and we're all in the same boat!
